All Dining & Restaurants

All dining and restaurants in the Smoky Mountain area.

OUR HISTORY: In the 1780s, Mordecai Lewis moved west from Virginia and settled on the banks of a Tennessee river. Pioneer Isaac Love built an iron forge there that would eventually, along with the huge numbers of passenger pigeons, give the settlement the name. The mill is still in operation today! OUR FOOD: Wholesome ingredients, time-tested recipes, and well-honed home-cooking skills are the hallmarks of real Smoky Mountains cooking, and the ones that keep the rambling dining rooms at The Old Mill Restaurant bustling all day and into the night. OUR TAKE: If you want a good family style meal with large portions this is the place for you. The dinner pricing is for the meal, drink and desert. I have yet to get a bad meal there. It my experience that you will have enough leftovers for lunch the next day. Highly recommended.

J. T. Hannah`s

OUR HISTORY: The J.T. Hannahs Kitchen known today is built from rich traditions of the past. Each food item we serve, the hospitality shown to our guests, and the way we operate our business, is inspired by the man who did it best. J.T. Hannah Being the largest business east of Knoxville meant J.T. also had the largest labor force. Folks came from far, remote areas and worked long hard hours through the week. As was the custom back then, bunkhouses were put up to house the workers. J.Ts soon added a lunchroom just off the old Icehouse building, hired the best cook around, and began serving delicious, home-cooked meals. He was also known to tap a barrel or two of his finest local brews. J.T. was a prosperous businessman in the Great Smoky Mountains, operating the largest freight warehouse and stockyards in East Tennessee. Arriving daily at the warehouse were barrels of the finest local beers & whiskey, the widest variety of the freshest produce farmed in the Southeast, as well as the best livestock, cattle, hogs, and chickens. J.T. even had an exclusive contract to sort and distribute seafood and the finest Atlantic salmon in the territory. OUR TAKE: Good food at a fair price and I am a sucker for a good story. With word quickly spreading about the hearty fare and bounty of beverages available at a reasonable cost, other folks began to come by the old warehouse looking for food and rest. Demands became so strong for the specialties coming from the kitchen of J.Ts warehouse that he slowly closed down the storerooms and stockyards and opened his doors full-time to the public around 1930. OUR FOOD: You will drool over one of our delicious burgers or deluxe sandwiches. Feel the sizzle of our signature steak and seafood entrees, or sample one of J.T. Hannahs Specialties such as our award winning St. Louis Spare Ribs. When you are finished, do not forget to order a local favorite, Mama Lauras Famous Strawberry Short Cake! Come on in our kitchen and see what is cooking. Walk through the door and let your eyes wander through our warehouse filled with rustic decor and relics reminiscent of the 1930s. Opened in honor of J.T. Hannah, a prosperous businessman in the Great Smoky Mountains, we carry on the tradition of serving hearty fare and a bounty of beverages at a reasonable cost.
